Sensei Radovan Sramek
1st Dan (Shodan)
My name is Radovan Šrámek and I hail from Czechia. From a young age I was passionate about martial arts, and when I was 15 years old, I started practicing Judo at a club that was near my school at the time. I quickly fell in love with the nature of the sport and I’ve carried on practicing it ever since.
While studying in Scotland, I became a member of my university’s Judo team, and I would regularly attend student competitions (with mixed degrees of success). While there, I was able to reach a grade of 1st Kyu (brown belt), and I was well on my way to getting to 1st Dan. Unfortunately the world plunged into lockdown at the time, and I was not able to practice judo at my club anymore.
In 2022 I moved into Huntingdon, and I was happy to find the friendly local Kanazawa Judo club. I joined, eager to get my skill back up to speed, and with the help and guidance of our instructors I was able to finally achieve a 1st Dan rank. Since then I have been working on my coaching qualifications and have been helping with classes, hoping to bring this wonderful sport to as many people as possible.
